30/11/2009 - SCHEUERLE 4TH ON POINTS FOR PWWSS
Consistency is the key for Queenslander Andrew Scheuerle as he finished in seventh position on Saturday night at Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba. Scheuerle, who was disappointed with the end result, drove a good race to move forward one position and take points towards the Series. After the second round of World Series, Scheuerle sits equal fourth on points with Grant Anderson.
The Ausdeck Team qualified 12th in time trials and moved forward in both of their heats to finish 4th and 3rd respectively. However, when the Dash was called Shirls dropped a spot and qualified 8th in the Dash Time Trials giving him the starting position for the Feature Race.
The crew made a change to the car for the feature race and were hoping it was exactly what they were searching for. "We put a new change into the setup to see how the car would respond and it responded well but really, at the end of the day, it was my driving line that let us down. I was fast in corners 3 & 4 but I lacked momentum through 1 & 2 and there's no excuse for it. I've been racing solidly at BIS for the past few years and I'm used to that track. This year will be different for me as I need to adjust my driving to suit the different tracks again. Don't underestimate us though, we're there to win some rounds and we will get there!" A confident Scheuerle said.
The night was stressful with good friend Trevor Green being admitted to hospital with spinal injuries of which Doctor's initially suggested could be life changing for the South Australian. Thankfully, yesterday's scans revealed Trevor only had one fracture and would require rest and pain management to see his back heal.
After speaking with Trevor today, he's in high spirits however is required to stay in a back brace for a minimum of four to five months. Trev is thankful it's not a serious long term injury and he will be better in a few months.
The Ausdeck Team are on their way to Parramatta Raceway this weekend to continue their World Series assault where Scheuerle will hope for a top five finish to keep his points alive. In a large field of competitors, conditions will be tough and Scheuerle will need to be on the money!
